Dog Backyard Water Games

The first water activities for dogs that you can do all summer long start right in your own backyard! Below are 3 dog water games you can do with your dog:

  • Play in a dog swimming pool
  • There are many dog swimming pools available in numerous sizes for dogs of all breeds! Make sure to look for durable dog pools made of PVC material since they are designed more for dogs and they fold up easier for storage!
  • Enjoy a dog splash pad or dog water sprinkler
  • Visit your local PetSmart or take a look on Amazon to find a dog water sprinkler or dog splash pad that your dog can play with! To make them work, all you have to do is plug in the hose and let the water fun begin!
  • Play with the hose
  • The easiest idea of them all is to grab your hose, turn it up all the way and wave it all around for your dog to play in!

Dog Water Sports

Did you know that there are dog sports that involve the water? Dock diving is a sport for all water loving dogs where your dog runs and jumps off of a dock into a pool to retrieve their favorite water dog toy. In this sport, your dog is judged by the length of the jump and can earn different titles based on how far they jump from novice (up to 10 ft.) all the way to premier (28 ft. and above).

Research to find a dog dock diving pool near you to start your first lesson to see if this is a sport your dog will love!

Beach/Lake Day

The last dog water activities you can do is to have a fun beach day or lake day with your pup! There are numerous dog friendly beaches that you can visit. The most important things to check are:

  • Is the beach dog friendly?
  • Does the beach allow dogs at certain hours?

You can also visit your local park and lake and enjoy a fun boat day, swimming and fetch in the lake and more!
