3 Recipes You Can Make For Your Dog This Fall

Does anyone else love all of the wonderful treats that are made during the fall? Who could resist the smell and taste of cinnamon, apples, pumpkin and sweet potato? Our dogs sure can't! These fall staples are included in so many fall dog treat recipes that we couldn't resist sharing a post featuring three fun recipes you can make for your dog this fall.

1. Dehydrated Sweet Potato Dog Treats​

Let's start things off with something super delicious yet super easy, dehydrated sweet potato dog treats. These single ingredient dog treats only take a few steps to make, are super healthy for your dog and they're great rawhide alternatives for dogs.

How to make dehydrated sweet potato dog treats:

Step 1: Wash one sweet potato and peel the skin off.

Step 2: Cut down the middle of the sweet potato lengthwise and then cut the two halves into thin slices 1/4 inch thick.

Step 3: Preheat your oven to 250 degrees.

Step 4: Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and add your slices.

Step 5: Bake for 2-3 hours and then let cool before giving to your dog!

2. Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats​

Keeping things simple, this next fall dog treat idea combines two of every dog's favorites! Let's learn how to make these fun and tasty pumpkin peanut butter dog treats. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pure canned pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup xylitol free peanut butter
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

How to make pumpkin peanut butter dog treats:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Combine your pumpkin and peanut butter in a bowl.

Step 3: Slowly add in your flour to your pumpkin and peanut butter until you've created your dough.

Step 4: On a clean, floured surface roll your dough flat.

Step 5: Use any cookie cutter of your choice to cut out your dough into fun shapes (you can get fall-themed cookie cutters or classic dog bone & dog breed silhouette shapes!).

Step 6: Bake for 12 minutes and let cool before giving to your dog!

3. Peanut Butter Applesauce Dog Treats​

Last but not least, is the third fall dog treat recipe that adds in another fall favorite, apples! Better yet, unsweetened applesauce. Let's check out the ingredients below.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/3 cup xylitol free peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

How to make peanut butter applesauce dog treats:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Combine the applesauce, peanut butter and egg in a bowl.

Step 3: Add in your dry ingredients (baking powder, oats and flour) and combine until your form a ball of dough.

Step 4: On a clean, floured surface, roll your dough flat.

Step 5: Step 5: Use any cookie cutter of your choice to cut out your dough into fun shapes (you can get fall-themed cookie cutters or classic dog bone & dog breed silhouette shapes!).

Step 6: Place your cookies on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. 

Step 7: Bake around 15-20 minutes (check at 15 minutes to see if they're crisp) and let cool before giving to your dog.
